Well-Known Names and Global Stars

Stephen Ireland began playing for the side in pre-season this season through close friend and current Wythenshawe teammate Blake Norton, and the former Irish player then asked additional ex-pros, who all compete in a midweek nine-a-side game, to join in.

"I warn my centre-back 'I'm not hanging back' and that I'm just going to keep running.

"The running is what I'm after. It's enjoyable."

Along with Cisse's six goals on his first game, Stephen Ireland has netted 8 in three games for the side, while George Boyd scored 5 on his debut match and Joleon Lescott, a centre-half by trade, scored a triple in one game up front.

One opponent, 38, who features on the wing for Collegiate OB, came up against ex- Wigan full-back Maynor Figueroa on the weekend - and had to tell his young son who Heskey was.
